At present, the most widely used flat glass in China can be divided into three types according to their manufacturing processes, namely, pull up flat glass, and float glass. The first two processes mainly produce thin glass below 5mm, which is used for general industrial and civil building doors and windows. These two types of flat glass have poor flatness and thickness difference, and can only meet the requirements of enclosure and lighting. They cannot be used for deep processing, especially for the production of various coated glass. However, they have the advantage of low price and are still widely used in low-end construction workers. Float glass is a type of flat glass produced using the most advanced technology available today. Its various properties are superior to those of flat glass produced using other processes. The product thickness can range from 2-25mm and can meet the different needs of construction projects. It is suitable for manufacturing various deep processed glass and can be used in industrial and civil buildings, as well as high-end buildings such as hotels and restaurants.
There are many types of deep processed glass made from flat glass, including tempered glass, laminated glass, coated glass, insulated glass, hot bent glass, and so on. Through deep processing, flat glass can have single or composite functions such as high strength, safety, insulation, sound insulation, and energy saving, fundamentally changing the functionality of glass.
